Directing

In 1984 Philip was a founding member of the co-operative which converted an upstairs room at the Tabard pub on Bath Road, Chiswick, London, into a Theatre for New Writing. For the next five years, this Writers' Theatre staged ten new plays a year and read and workshopped many more. Philip directed Sam Dowling's THE VIRGIN OF NOTTING HILL at the Tabard.

He has also directed corporate events at Shakespeare's Globe, and playreadings under the Read Not Dead banner there.

Teaching

Philip holds the LGSM Diploma in Teaching Speech and Drama.

At Work

He helps teachers and other professionals in presentation, communication and use of the voice.

Auditions

He prepares actors and students for drama schools and employment.

Workshops

He runs Shakespeare workshops in schools and colleges from Year 6 to A-level, with the emphasis on participation. He believes the best way to experience Shakespeare's plays is to act them and see them acted, and that if students can get a taste of this they will gain confidence, understanding and enthusiasm for his work.
